Day 1 Alliance (D1A), the trade association representing private-sector criminal justice and immigration system contractors, released the following statement by National Spokesperson Alexandra Wilkes on California Senate Bill 1132, a proposal solely aimed at our member companies that is both redundant and unnecessary.

“Alexandra Wilkes, spokesperson for the Day 1 Alliance, a trade and advocacy group for private sector prisons, told Newsweek: ‘This is a solution in search of a problem that does not exist. D1A member companies are subject to multiple layers of oversight and accountability that often times exceed those of their public counterparts – including inspections by the California state Attorney General’s office.'”
